E pluribus unum: Out of many, one ... shared fate

Presented at the German-American Conference by Dr Daniel Prinzing

In the past decades there has been an increasing influx of immigrants to the United States . In the context of the historical antecedents of the United States ' history as an immigrant nation and current political mandates, especially the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, the paper reviews research on educational possibilities and concrete programms that adress possible measures to be taken up by Civic Education in the current political context. The aim is to arrive at an evaluation of possible measures and a clarification of what the goals of Civic Education can, in future, be.
